美國Clontech        2005年7月1日，日本最大的生物工程公司TaKaRa公司宣布花費6千萬美元成功從BD Biosciences收購Clontech單元。此收購計劃已經(jīng)于2005年8月底完成，Clontech已成為TaKaRa全資子公司。
美國Clontech是1984年由華人方瑞賢創(chuàng)辦的，一度曾經(jīng)是眾多海外華人的驕傲。因為方瑞賢創(chuàng)辦的是全美第一家，也是亞裔創(chuàng)辦的最大的分子生物公司，更重要的是Clontech 建立了生物技術(shù)中建立基因文庫的模式。在Clontech 被BD收購時已有四百名員工，包括六十五位博士，擁有五十多項專利，產(chǎn)品已達兩千多種，堪稱全球數(shù)一、數(shù)二的基因庫，提供全球三十多個國家基因?qū)嶒炇一蚴菍W(xué)術(shù)界做研究之用。該公司有曾于一九九四、一九九五、一九九八及一九九九年被圣荷西及舊金山商業(yè)報紙選為一百個成長最快的私人公司。Clontech公司一直銳意進取，其開發(fā)的產(chǎn)品多次獲得全美R&D100金獎。產(chǎn)品范圍包括基因識別、基因表達、基因功能研究，大家熟悉的Smart Race，Altas DNA矩陣，SSH消減雜交、MTN膜、多色熒光蛋白載體、MatchMaker酵母雙雜交系列也在其中。

此次收購會給Takara帶來以下收益：極大地豐富Takara原來的產(chǎn)品線；迅速擴增TaKaRa在歐美市場的份額，因為Clontech 70％以上的銷售是來自于歐美，而Takara 85％的收益來自于日本本土市場。本次收購將全面擴展日本產(chǎn)品在歐美的銷售。另外Takara將整合并加強日本本土和位于美國的Clontech研發(fā)部，加快產(chǎn)品的開發(fā)，提高Takara在全球生命科學(xué)研究市場的份額。
